Manchester Day was created in 2010 and is now a spectacular addition to the city’s annual calendar of events. Conceived with the ambition of celebrating the creativity and diversity synonymous with Manchester, it is a great opportunity for communities to celebrate individual and collective pride in their city as well as to portray the stories of what makes them feel uniquely Mancunian in a highly visual way.
Manchester Day has grown each year, bringing a dazzling array of costumes, music, dance and incredible structures to the city centre’s streets. Over 2,400 participants from 90 community and social groups across Manchester get involved each year, aiming to wow an audience of more than 50,000 residents and visitors who line the streets of the city centre.
With its many benefits for the city, the Manchester Day brings communities, artists and businesses together to create something truly special for Manchester.
This year’s Manchester Day 2014 take place on Sunday 14 June – 1pm till 6pm. So make a note in your diary, and come into the city to experience the biggest event of the year.
