Over 2,000 participants from local communities bring Manchester city centre to life on Manchester Day.  Participants are selected through an application process.

Manchester Day is created by the people of Manchester – local communities, groups and individuals alike – who come together to celebrate working, living and playing in the city in an extraordinary way.

People can apply to take part in Manchester Day as a group or an individual through an open application process which launches each winter via the website. Successful applicants are then paired with an artist who helps to develop creative ideas inspired by the day’s annual theme.

The process of making Manchester day a reality brings communities from across the city together to celebrate collective pride, promote new skills and develop creative confidence. This year, over 2,000 local people will work together to bring carnival atmosphere to an audience of tens of thousands.

The application process to take part in Manchester Day 2017 closed in February 2017.
