Hats off to Manchester Day
“Creation Stations” around the city are opening workshops ahead of the event where people will have the chance to make their own party hat, to be worn during the Manchester Day celebrations on 23 June.
The workshops will provide a host of environmentally friendly hat-making materials and offer artistic and practical support throughout the creative process – giving you the opportunity to design the perfect accessory to cap off your preparations for the big day.
The workshops are for all ages with sessions across the city. Six wonderful workshops have already happened and there are two more this weekend before the big day:
Saturday 22 June, 10.30-11.30am
CENTRAL LIBRARY (MEDIA LOUNGE)
Saturday 22 June, 1–3pm
On Manchester Day itself, there will be a chance to get arty and craft your own celebratory headgear at The Creation Station in St Ann’s Square.
Parading experts will be on hand – from noon until 5pm – to show attendees how best to flaunt their fabulous creations at:
12.30 – 1.30pm
2.30 – 3.30pm
4.00 – 5.00pm
And everyone is welcome to join the ‘People’s Procession’ at 5pm to promenade through the streets to reach the Manchester Day finale in Cathedral Gardens.
In addition to making a fabulous hat, if you fill in one of our evaluation cards you could bag yourself tickets to Snow White at the Opera House, snare a track taster session at Manchester Velodrome or win a family package of swimming fun at Manchester Aquatics Centre. See full terms and conditions.
