The Manchester Day parade weaves its way through the heart of the city centre in a fusion of colour, music and dance!

The centrepiece of Manchester Day is the stunning parade, weaving its way through the city. The parade itself is usually around one mile long and takes up to an hour to pass any one point!

The parade has a new route for 2019, starting from Princess St (near Canal St), and taking in Portland St and Peter St before travelling along Deansgate to finish near the Cathedral. We can’t wait to explore new streets this year so come out and cheer us on!

Key information about the parade:

  • Parade timings:

1.00pm Start at Princess St
1.15pm Peter Street
1.30pm Deansgate
1.45pm Parade head arrives at Cathedral
2.30pm Parade finishes at Cathedral

All parade timings are approximate.

  • We expect the first section of the route will be a little quieter (Princess St and Portland St) so might be an easier option for families with young children.
  • There will be an accessible viewing area in front of Kendals (House of Fraser) on Deansgate, entry will be managed by stewards.
  • After the stunning parade has wowed the crowds along the route and reached the finish line at the end of Deansgate, there will be a collection of the parade creations on display at Parade Plaza (in front of Manchester Cathedral) from 4pm to 6pm for you to take a closer look at – the perfect opportunity for a selfie or two!
